I grew up raising hogs and only quit when the industrial confinement model pushed small producers out. But since then Ruth and I have become increasingly dissatisfied with the quality and taste of pork from the grocery store that was raised in these indoor operations. We decided in 2020 to start raising hogs again so we could enjoy pork in our diet. We also had meat customers asking for pork raised like our other livestock- on pasture. In spite of the Covid Crisis causing a processing nightmare. We got through our first season and are now enjoying the great flavors of out pastured Berkshire pork. We will be starting another group of pigs this spring so they enjoy their whole life in the sunshine, on diverse pasture and do what pigs love to do.
If you would like to try some for yourself and see what real pork used to taste like, let us know! We only raise what our pasture can support So book now to ensure delivery in the fall.
